Ransomware Attack On Food Giant Dole Temporarily Shuttered US Production
by Tyler Durden, February 23, 2023

Dole Food is one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of fresh fruits and vegetables. An alarming report reveals the company temporarily shuttered all operations across North America after a cyberattack earlier this month.

"Dole Food Company is in the midst of a Cyber Attack and have sub- sequently shut down our systems throughout North America," Emanuel Lazopoulos, senior vice president at Dole’s Fresh Vegetables division, wrote in a memo to retailers on Feb. 10. The memo was obtained by CNN this week.

Dole sent the memo to supermarkets after customers complained about its prepackaged salads, which include salad blends, salad kits, and ready-to-eat salads, being out of stock.

[Excerpts]

Dozens of food processing plants were devastated last year by a series of "accidental fires." After a period of relative quiet, the first major fire of this year was reported by NBC Connecticut on Saturday. Over 100 firefighters battled a huge fire at a commercial egg farm in Bozrah, Connecticut, on Saturday afternoon.

...egg shortage reportedly caused by avian flu decimating tens of millions of egg-producing hens.

Over the past six months, dozens of food processing plants have either exploded or caught on fire. Barns have also been ‘spontaneously’ bursting into flames, and tens of millions of chickens have been exterminated since November of last year.

More recently, tens of thousands of chickens were killed in a fire at a Wright County Egg Farm. The farm, which started in 1918, sold more than three million eggs a day to some of the nation’s largest retailers.

In addition to this, Northern Ireland is planning to kill off more than 1 million sheep and cattle to meet its new legally binding ‘climate emissions targets.’

Meanwhile, in Australia, pork supply is set to plunge as Japanese encephalitis has been reportedly detected across piggeries.

French farmer who fought Monsanto through the courts violently assaulted
by Jonathan Matthews, February14, 2023

News has emerged that the farmer Paul François, who has been involved in a protracted and high-profile legal battle with Monsanto, was brutally attacked at his home in Bernac, a village in Charente in southwestern France, on 30 January.

According to reports, the 59-year-old farmer was attacked by three hooded men after he put his car in the garage. Having seized him, they tied his legs and arms with electric cables and wrapped a scarf around his neck, which they shut in the rear door of his vehicle. Once they had Paul François immobilised, the attackers threatened him with a knife to his throat and attempted to make him swallow a liquid, while telling him, "We are tired of hearing you and seeing your face on TV."

Fortunately, because he had been on the phone to his sister when he arrived back in his car, Paul François was able to shout to her to get help during the attack. And when lights outside his home suddenly came on, triggered by movement sensors, he told his attackers that it was people coming to his aid. His assailants then fled the scene but not before kicking the farmer’s legs from under him, leaving the scarf strangling him.

by Leif Le Mahieu, February 1, 2023

A North Dakota mayor has moved to block approval of a Chinese-owned corn mill in his town after the Air Force warned that it could potentially be a national security threat.

Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski, a Republican and former NHL player, said with the city council’s approval, he would block the opening of the mill operated by Fufeng USA, an American subsidiary of a Chinese company.

"The federal government has requested the city’s help in stopping the project as geo-political tensions have greatly increased since the initial announcement of the project," Bochenski said in a statement.

The Republican senators had inquired about whether the mill would present any security concerns.

"[The] Department’s view is unambiguous: the proposed project presents a significant threat to national security with both near- and long-term risks of significant impacts to our operation in the area," a letter from the Air Force read.
